Buntricia's Hands on Makeup Skill Conference Las Vegas 2014

Hello Gorgeous,

Happy new month and welcome to November, I pray this month brings you closer to your dreams and God too.

Soooo Todays post is all about the Buntricia's makeup conference I attended in Las Vegas (yessssa), from 26th - 28th November 2014, prior to the conference in March I traveled on a business trip and I was speaking to my friend Isoken about Mrs Buntricia who's a Master Educator in Makeup, she has been in the industry for 35+ years (before I was born lol) and how we needed to save up money to go brush up our skills at her conferenceas God will have it Mrs Buntricia decided to create a platform where she would give 3 people an all expense paid trip to her conference in Las Vegas and I participated but trust me it wasn't easy) I won along with my friends, Isoken and Shalom, to cut this long emotional story short we went for the conference and it was just super unbelievable, all the classes I attended were indeed worth every struggle to get there.

 The Conference
The classes were divided into 3 below, we started 8am-6pm daily and had 1/2hour break from 26th-28th October 2014.

1) Air Brushing
2) Makeup
3) Eyelash Extensions

Air brushing class was taught by Maria Moore who taught us every single detail about the airbrush machine and how to use it, she defined Air brushing as a wonderful technique of applying makeup through a compressor and air which leaves the skin flawless, light, hygienic and its excellent for mature skin. Her class was awesome, her interaction level was just so unbelievable as she carried every one along, even Ms Buntricia came into our class and pleaded with us to calm down 'haha' the chemistry was just 100% .

Makeup class was taught by Buntricia Bastian 'our host' First of all, let me start by saying Mrs Buntricia Bastian is one remarkable woman I'm glad I know today, She's brave and has been through so much to get to where she is today, her class was emotional, encouraging, fearless and knowledge oriented. I learnt how makeup is related to chemistry, biology, art, physics, maths, economics and business in general, I mean think about what you just read now, makeup is truly related to all the above subjects, She also shed lights on Color theory, Color blocking and how it's an important aspect in makeup, in-depth attributes of the seven facial shapes, how applying makeup has a lot to do with angles and zones, types of brushes and using the sides of the brushes in applying makeup. She took us on a journey i had never experienced at any conference, here are some notes i took down in her class just for you and myself.

'Success is a formulae, 80% Communication and 20% Skill'
'Free denotes no value'
' Trend and Skill are not the same'
' 99% of every job you will get is from a referral"
'Bridal makeup is tricky, you have to please the camera, the guest and the bride'
'Don't use anything that is not intended for the face e.g Milk of magnesia (M.OM)' < i laughed hard when she said this, i won't lie i joined the train when every Youtube'r recommended it for oily skin and all, but when i tried it twice and got breakouts all over my skin, no one told me to stop using it and i never recommended it again, so i was in support when she said that >

The First 2 statements hit me so bad as its just the simple truth, communication is key for every business to strive in this world, i will bring back this statement in another post of my life-lessons.
Her class ended with us working on each other and she went round reviewing our work before Amelia Razzaq a.ka @makeupbypinky came in to do a live demo on color blocking eyeshadow look on her model (Isoken)
We later had a dinner event where we all dressed up in adorable evening gowns and danced to nigerian/american songs 'lol' i couldn't stay up that long so i left to go sleep by 10pm.

Lash Extension class : This was the last class and i started getting emotional as the conference had finally come to an end ;( so to fully get us prepared for this class we had a business class taught by Mrs Roxan Ker (Mrs Buntricia's younger sister) who's a lawyer and founder of www.thebeautylawyer.com. We all got into the class by 8am, some people danced all night the previous day and She asked we nigerians to show her the latest dance steps, and trust me to show them proper 'Shoki' dance . She took us into another journey of understanding makeup as a business, you see we are all concerned about makeup as a passion and we forget the business aspect. We all did a personality test, she went in-depth on how we need to have business plans and contract agreements for every business need.
Here are some notes i took down

'Brave means you overcome fear' Roxan Ker
'The hardest part of an Entrepreneur is to work as a boss and work as the entry level person'
Petra Cleary
'Be a minder, finder, grinder and binder' Petra Cleary

The Lash extension class then started with learning how to thread brows,  apply false lashes (Strip and Bundle lashes) before we finally started the difficult one that is isolated to a persons natural lash it was taught by Christina Miller and Shaunell Kennard both are Lash Extension specialists.

I can't fully explain all that occurred, but trust me every second there was awesome, The class was filled with passionate women from all over the world, we shared the same dream, struggle, ignorance, fear, courage, excitement for the future, stories and mistakes. Ms Buntricia and her Educators revealed so many techniques and information, They commended techniques we knew and scolded us on techniques we did wrong.
